Thanks for more great insights! I’d like to leave a comment for the city online about this rezoning hearing tonight but am a bit unsure which agenda item would be best to choose as the subject. And whether “support” or “oppose” is appropriate for the agenda wording. So would love to see any comments you plan to submit for inspiration!

Thanks Megan - sorry, I know the public hearing is starting soon! I'd say "support" (staff assume that "oppose" means that you want no change). Subject should be 4 for the Kitsilano upzoning, 5 for the Shaughnessy upzoning.

I'm not sure how useful my comments will be, but here's what I wrote:

We desperately need more housing. Land in Vancouver is scarce, so it's really important that we make good use of it, by allowing more housing where people want to live (i.e. where prices and rents are highest). Allowing multiplexes in these neighbourhoods is a step in this direction.

I understand that because multiplexes are now the path of least resistance, lots which could be redeveloped for apartment buildings under the SRP are now being redeveloped for multiplexes instead. I'd suggest that the city consider expanding its multiplex program to allow small apartment buildings.

This is extremely disappointing, 0.5 FSR is tiny. I really hope the provincial government steps in to enforce or update their laws.
