12:36:40 Closing comments by Neil Hrushowy

Therein lies the problem. Everyone says we need more housing, but anytime there is a project or city plan that would provide that housing, it is overwhelmingly opposed. There are conservative funded lobby groups such as We Vote Canada that are rallying thousands of people to oppose public housing projects. Yet, there doesn't seem to be any groups actively promoting housing. Progressive groups can mobilize people to oppose mega-towers, such as the recently approved Holborn Towers. Yet, they are conspicuously absent when a project needs approval.
I don't know what the answer is. Yet, it is understandable that Council would vote down the Villages Plan given the opposition to it.
You are doing your part with this blog, and your advocacy. Yet, I don't know how to create groups that will say Yes-IMBY. There needs to be political cover for politicians so they are not committing political suicide if they approve these projects.
