Thank you very much to everyone who’s joined OneCity to vote for me in the nomination race, made a donation, and volunteered to help my nomination campaign! I really appreciate your support. I always think of democratic politics as being like a tug-of-war: it’s a collective effort.
We’re heading into the final stretch of the race: nomination candidates will be reaching out to everyone who’s a OneCity member before May 10, and asking them to vote for us. There’s 12 people seeking a OneCity council nomination, and it’s likely that we’ll have four or five spots open.
As we get closer to the May 10 date, I expect I’ll be cross-endorsing other candidates. There’s a lot of strong OneCity candidates, which is really impressive: my understanding is that it’s usually hard to recruit good municipal candidates, because there’s so many parties and so many positions.
We’ve all committed to not running for any other party. If I don’t win a spot on May 10, my 2026 campaign ends here.
I’ve set up a Substack to provide a weekly update on my campaign, russilw.substack.com. (I also have a daily housing Substack, morehousing.ca, but I figured that a weekly update would be a bit less overwhelming!)
Upcoming events:
