Forward Together / Greater Vancouver Food Bank fundraiser
Donate $100 to Forward Together and I’ll donate $200 to the food bank
Make a donation to Forward Together
If you donate $100 to Forward Together and email me the confirmation (russilwvong@gmail.com), I’ll personally donate $200 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
In 2022, I ran for city council with Kennedy Stewart’s Forward Together slate: Kennedy really got the need for more rental housing, he was one of the few solid Yes votes on housing in the previous term, and I wanted to help get him re-elected. In the end, he was defeated by Ken Sim and ABC. But Forward Together is still raising funds, paying down campaign debt from 2022, and looking to the future.
At the same time, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank needs donations - there’s a lot of people who need help with groceries, and food prices are up.
I’d like to help raise funds for Forward Together, while also raising money for the food bank. So I’m doing a small fundraiser:
Between now and the end of the year, if you’re willing to donate $100 to Forward Together and send me your receipt, I’ll personally donate $200 to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. (I’ll get a charitable tax receipt reducing my taxes by about $100.)
If you donate before Sunday December 3, I’ll make the donation through the fundraiser that the r/vancouver subreddit is running, with donations matched by Reddit.
Finally, my employer also matches my donations.
So your $100 donation will result in a $600 donation to the food bank before December 3 ($200 from me, $200 from Reddit, $200 from my employer), or a $400 donation to the food bank after December 3 ($200 from me, $200 from my employer).
It doesn’t have to be $100. If you want to donate $50 or $20, the same offer applies: I’ll donate 2X to the food bank, with as much matching as I can get. Just let me know how much you donated (I don’t see the amount).
Some limitations:
When you make a donation to a municipal political party (unlike at the federal and provincial levels), you don’t get a tax credit. That’s why I’m donating $200 instead of $100.
I’m willing to donate up to $5,000 to the food bank.
To make a donation to Forward Together, you must be a resident of BC, and you must be making the donation yourself, with no reimbursement from someone else. Elections BC rules.
Thank you for your generous support - it’s for two good causes!
