First Vancouver multiplex gets permission to build
Took five months: faster than before, not as fast as Kelowna's two weeks
Someone asked if five months is fast or slow. Jens:
It depends. For CoV standards it’s not bad. Although it’s the first one and it’s hard to say what average times will be.
But if we compare it with Kelowna that implemented multiplexes in 2016 with the goal of actually getting lots built, there it took 2 weeks to building permit.
A baseline for comparison: Frances Bula’s description of getting permission to build a laneway house. The pre-application process took about three and a half years (there was a process change at the city), and then the city took about six months to approve the application and issue the permits.
