Yes I realize this an older article but still relevant unfortunately.
We saw this them play out in Tsawwassen the other night as factions within local government posture and maneuver at the expense of new housing opportunity.
Not only while my child be unable to rent or buy here, my wife and I have made the difficult choice to move from the community we have lived in for 35 years because there is no wrung in the ladder for us to downsize to.
Sorry to hear it, Mike. I went to the Delta city council meeting on Monday (and met a couple of the opponents). I keep trying to emphasize that high housing costs translate directly into low real salaries, resulting in labour shortages - as doctors in Tsawwassen retire, there's nobody to replace them. That was another major concern discussed at length during the meeting. https://www.delta-optimist.com/local-news/delta-council-rejects-revised-tsawwassen-town-centre-application-11313927
