Vancouver passes DCL cut, single exterior stair
It's been a busy week!
At yesterday’s Standing Committee on City Finance and Services meeting, two major recommendations passed:
Bringing down costs under the control of the city, in particular a temporary 20% cut to DCLs (“80% of something is better than 100% of nothing”), allowing payment of 75% of the DCLs to be deferred until occupancy, and reducing the discount for below-market housing in the Broadway Plan area. Sean Orr (COPE) voted against.
Allowing a single exterior exit stair for apartment buildings up to six storeys, with the support of the Vancouver fire department. This passed unanimously.
