Event: The housing challenge [NEW DATE]
Monday October 3, 7 to 9 pm, Mahony & Sons - False Creek (601 Stamps Landing).
Housing in Metro Vancouver and the GTA has always been more expensive than elsewhere, but Covid has really aggravated the problem. With more people working from home, people need more space, and that’s resulted in low vacancy rates, high rents, and high home prices. CMHC released a report recently, estimating the size of the supply gap.
Up to now I’ve mostly been involved in federal politics, volunteering for the federal Liberals, but over the last year or so I’ve gotten increasingly involved in the housing issue in Vancouver, helping to mobilize support for more housing.
I’m running for Vancouver city council in the October 15 municipal election, with Kennedy Stewart’s Forward Together slate. Please join me on Monday October 3 to discuss the housing challenge and what municipal, provincial, and federal governments need to do about it.
WHEN: Monday October 3, 7 to 9 pm
WHERE: Mahony & Sons - False Creek, 601 Stamps Landing (just west of Olympic Village Station)
TICKETS: $50

[This event was originally scheduled for September 12. We’ve rescheduled it to October 3 because of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Canada’s head of state since 1952.]
