In the five years from 2018 to 2023, Auckland built housing at twice the rate of population growth.
This placed downward pressure on rents and prices, improving wellbeing for so many people across Auckland and indeed even the country.

Undersupply until the 2016 Auckland Unitary Plan becomes even more stark when we look at adult population. Population of persons aged 20+ increased by 42% between 2001 and 2018. Dwellings increased by only 29%.
Auckland is back to 2013 levels of adults per dwelling.
