Toronto: three-storey, 11-unit building near subway rejected
‘Excessive’ 11-unit Palmerston redevelopment axed by city committee. Gabe Oatley, Toronto Today.
Brandon Donnelly on Twitter:
Example of what’s wrong with planning in Toronto: Committee rejects low-rise housing proposal 5 minutes from a subway and now the community is aiming to create an area heritage designation as a weapon against any future housing attempts.
Looking at Google Maps, it’s a block and a half from Bloor Street, and it is indeed a five-minute walk from Bathurst Station.
Ashley Challinor, chair of More Neighbours Toronto:
I need people to understand that when NIMBYs say they’ll support housing if only it fits with neighbourhood character or isn’t 40 storeys or is in the “right” place they are not telling the truth. No location, no size, and no beautiful or historic design will satisfy them.
