Port Moody: 2400 Clarke Street (Mary Anne's Place)
A six-storey project near Moody Centre Station, with unanimous support
On Tuesday I heard that there was a public hearing for a six-storey project in Port Moody (180 apartments, about 100 strata and 80 purpose-built rentals), a 10-minute walk from Moody Centre Station, and that there might be a lot of opposition.
I was planning to call in to support it, but as it turned out, all of the speakers were unanimously in support of the project! There was lots of praise for the developer, Placemakers: they had evidently worked hard to mobilize support for the project. Council passed the rezoning unanimously.
Tri-City News: Public hearing tonight for development in Port Moody's historic downtown. “A redevelopment proposal that would dramatically alter a portion of Port Moody's historic downtown goes to a public hearing tonight, Sept. 5.” Followup story the next day. Mary Anne’s Place 'a wonderful tribute': Downtown Port Moody project gets the green light.
